Days 8&9: more Iguazú and the last of BA by allegra

This is it for the trip (we’re home now), but some of the best pictures yet are from Iguazú on the Argentina side. There are more than 200 up in the photo gallery.

20070816_butterfly As fun as the greedy, hissing anteater/raccoon things were, the wildlife here was much more diverse. Matt and I both had butterflies land on our hands.

20070816_flower And found some crazy tropical flowers.

20070816_iguazu Most trails were grated metal, which meant it often felt like I was walking on top of waterfalls. I’m not afraid of heights, but found myself backing away from the edge every now and then.

20070816_sign I loved the common sense signs strewn about the park (”no really, going over this fence is a bad idea”).

20070816_trail We managed to find a trail that was a wee bit more challenging. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it “hiking,” but it was more what I had expected out of the park.

20070816_boat We took a boat over to an island, which took us as close as we could get to the biggest waterfalls (not part of Garganta del Diablo).

On the island, I played around with the video feature on my camera, which I discovered the day before. I was surprised and impressed with the results:

We returned to BA on Thursday night, and spent Friday seeing the last bit of the city: the famous Caminito and Plaza Lavalle, which has the city’s theaters (being heavily renovated) and judicial courts (the surrounding square is apparently sponsored by LexisNexis).

Our ten and a half hour flight home Friday night to Saturday morning left us in a daze, but glad to be home.

Your trip looks amazing, but I have to say that the picture of you in the life jacket looks rather sponge bobish…

Wow, that is such an incredible waterfall. I’m glad you tried the video!

So now that you’re home from your trip, do you find yourself relaxed, or needing a vacation from the vacation?
