Last Days of London

After our delicious Christmas dinner, Allegra and I decided to take a walk through Hyde Park. We weren’t the only ones with the idea, particularly as the weather was so enjoyable.

We ended up in Knightsbridge, admiring the lights on Harrods.

On the following day, Boxing Day in the UK, as is our usual fashion, we were off to explore an ancient church, in this case the famous St Paul’s Cathedral. It’s a beautiful church, and we decided we had it in us to climb the 530 stairs up 280 feet to the Golden Gallery on top of the dome to enjoy an unusually clear view of London.

Afterward, we all dashed over to see the reconstructed Globe Theater, and then Allegra and I headed off to the Dickens House Museum where we enjoyed mince pies and much history involving Charles Dickens.

That night, we went to Mela, an amazing Indian restaurant, and the first time for Indian food for Pop-Pop. We ate, drank, and were all merry!

After a good night’s rest, on the morning of our last day, Allegra and I dashed over to Kensington Palace where we saw period wardrobes, palatial living spaces, and the Princess Diana exhibit.

After that, it was an eight hour flight home with time to reflect on what a wonderful trip this turned out to be. Be sure to enjoy our entire photo gallery!
