I know I’m not (thanks for the genes, Dad). I spent the first three weeks at my current job with a broken spell checker, and I can feel the horror of that discovery.
Despite my certain answer to the question, I couldn’t resist this quiz I ran across while looking for business writing guides (via Business Writing Blog). I am a sucker for online quizzes.
I was expecting to fail with gusto, but then the examples were easier than I expected, and I managed to get more than half right (14 out of 23). Technically, failure, but not bad…

I got 20 out of 23. I was hoping for a perfect score – rats.
Wow – I missed 5! I could feel myself having to guess on the words I don’t use, like desiccate and millennium. Mom
Surprisingly, I only got 15. And I’m a good speller. I think the problem is that I can generally spell words if you say them to me, but I get confused when confronted with a set of three visual possibilities. Suddenly they all look wrong.
Um… 11 out of 23. Sounds like the grades I used to get on spelling tests in elementary school
