Weekend words

A few words I learned this week.

Caddywompus: “askew, crooked, not quite right” (Urban Dictionary). From Matt: “Our new rug is all caddywompus.” [Not anymore. We spent the morning rearranging the living room.]

Opprobrium: “something that brings disgrace” (M-W). From a guest blogger at Jezebel:

…it’s not fear of the wrath of Bravo holding me back from naming names right now. If anything, it’s the haunting thought of provoking a look of opprobrium in Tim Gunn’s eyes.

Boondoggle: “a business trip, often to an exotic destination, in which you do more relaxing/fun stuff than work.” Slang from Urban Dictionary; there is a real definition involving Boy Scouts at M-W.
