Bad fortunes

Matt worked a 12-hour day today and I am stuck sitting around with a yet-to-be-determined foot injury, so we ordered Chinese at 9:30.

After dinner, Matt juggled fortune cookies. One fell on the floor and broke. I saw “hard work” between the cookie halves and said, “I think I got yours.” Matt picked the other cookie and said, “No, this one fits.”

My fortune: “All your hard work will soon pay off.”

Fortune writers, that is NOT funny. All my hard work (running) just led to a swollen foot.

Matt’s fortune: “Struggle as hard as you can for whatever you believe in.”

Matt responded, “I believe in sleep.”

  • This last Thursday Jenn and I signed our loan papers and closed on a house. The Tuesday before that we went to Chinese – my fortune said something along the lines of “be prepared for many changes before you finally settle down”, and Jenn’s was “Watch where you spend your money; frugality is a virtue”

    *sigh*
