August update

I must be tired. I cannot think of a remotely clever title for this post. I already posted a warning about our August gallery, so here are the highlights for those that aren’t brave enough to face all 75 photos.

This photo was taken at the beginning of the month, but that’s still about as well as Eva sits.

Rolling over is going much better. She has all the muscle strength and coordination to do it, but hasn’t seen a good reason to put it all together.

Matt and Eva play Rocket Baby on a regular basis – complete with liftoff (pictured here), orbiting, and a water landing. Matt hopes this will encourage Eva to be an astronaut, and that she will take him into space someday.

While Eva has slept well at night for months, she resists napping with all of her might. You know you’ve won the battle when you see her staring at her left index finger, conducting herself to sleep.

We spend hours with the Bumbo. No, I do not approve of counter-top Bumbo sitting, but Eva did love that view of the kitchen.

Eva’s new favorite activity is sitting with us while we eat. She looks mystified when we put food under her nose, but thinks it’s hilarious when we eat crunchy food.

Finally, Eva has some competition for her grandparents’ (Matt’s parents) attention. Carmen is the new baby in the family – she is the same age as Eva and weighs five pounds. And yes, mock me for my awkwardness around animals.
