I’ve been looking forward to Eva’s first words since… well, before she was born. I was actually disappointed that babies don’t come out talking, and that you have to wait more than a year to hear more than “Mama” and “Dada.”
For several weeks now, Eva has said “ah” while she signs “all done.” I didn’t think much of it until we were in Seattle a few weeks ago and she added “duh” to the mix. Then we went in for her fifteen month checkup, and the doctor counted “ah duh” as two words. Who knew?
So I present you with the innermost thoughts and values of a fifteen-month-old – a few signs, a sampling of animal noises, and some of Eva’s first words.
Isn’t this stage fun? I love how the signs are recognizable, but every child does them their own way. It’s like handwriting.
